Dear Ones,

MindRest in January planted seeds of new beginnings as we set intentions for this year. Of course, quite naturally, now the impulse is to start working towards our goals. But I invite you to try something different instead - to follow Nature’s rhythm and simply make space for new growth to begin in the Spring.

Striving to achieve is part our psyche - it gives us a sense of power and control. But the truth is, it is just that - a “sense”. We don’t really have control over anything if we told the truth about it. And though work might be appropriate, the grip around the fruits of this work has to be released. We have to step into the unknown. We have to empty our cup, so that we can be filled. Every day.

This dance between desire and non-attachment, need to know and reality of not knowing anything, wish to control and recognition that we never really have control is an art and takes mastery. I invite you to dance it with me in February.

We’ll immerse ourselves in the element of Space, Akasha, which holds this dance of polarities. Making space, getting out of the way, releasing the grip, letting go of old beliefs so that new plants can start blossoming through us in the Spring. Space is also about our voice and our Truth - the relative truth and also the Absolute Truth of who we are.

Space is about allowing ourselves to be empty and recognising the rich fullness of that. It will be a formless and beautiful exploration of what happens when there aren’t too many words to hold on to, when the yoga nidra is quieter, when the sequence has no aim.

This month we are adding a new class - Friday Soulful Slow - 1h of no effort and nourishing restorative poses, held for a long time in order replenish our energy and nourish ourselves at the end of a long week.
