Seeds of Insight 028 - The simplest place
JOY, mysterious and unexpected,
You arrive out of the blue
When my heart is unprotected
And I'm not in search of you.
LOVE, untainted, unexplained,
You bring tears to my eyes
When with anger, fear, pain
I am more supposed to cry.
PEACE unshakable and soft,
Soothing wounds I didn't tend to,
In the middle of the storm
Brings my mind to sweet surrender.
Then I wonder how on Earth
Did I not see all this Beauty
Lost in battles of self-worth,
Musts and shoulds, a sense of duty.
I forgot to fully savour
Every breath and every step
Of a journey full of flavour,
Popcorn, mystery and friends.
May I always be reminded
Of the beauty that resides
In the simplest place to find it -
In the Silence of my Heart.
This week started with a sense of strange peace in the middle of storm Ciara. And with this peace, there was a poem. It reminded me that there were millions of poems in my head when I was little. And while I wrote a lot, I read very little.
I distinctly remember being told that one cannot write without reading, so I buried my spontaneous writing somewhere in the past. As I grew up, reading never came (unless it was science or matters of the heart) and writing ‘wished it never stopped’. It is one of the few things that I do without a sense of effort.
Our words carry great weight, especially with children. It is so easy to pass on our own limited beliefs. Yet, when we see these beliefs for what they are - someone else’s words in our head - then there is freedom. This freedom is not just for us, but for our own ‘children’ - biological children, inner ones and many people in our life for whom we fulfil a parental role. Invariably, change always and only ever happens in our own hearts.
So write if you want to write, even if you have the reading speed of a 7-year old (like me).
With Love,
Iri
