Seeds of Insight 013 - Why are we here?
When this question arises, no answer feels right, at least not to my limited mind.
In the 1970s, the L/L Research group was formed in the US by a bunch of researchers interested in metaphysics and UFO. Shortly after, they began silent meditation circles in an attempt to channel wisdom from extraterrestrial intelligence.
During one of these circles, an entity calling itself Ra group made contact with one of the participants, Clara Rueckert - a subsequently author of many books. They described themselves as “humble messengers of the Law of One”.
Whether you believe or not in such contacts and the existence of extraterrestrial intelligence is highly irrelevant. The transcripts of these meetings revealed an internally consistent material of great clarity and wisdom well worth a read. It can still be found online at www.llresearch.org and IG: @the_law_of_one.
The Ra group’s philosophy was very similar to the old Vedic scriptures - all things are one. The universe is a vibrational system where everything is interconnected. There is one unifying and infinite consciousness - the Creator - and a unified creation of which we are an expression. We merely perceive ourselves as separate and we are caught up in the collective illusion of physical reality (something Einstein also spoke about at length).
Ra’s explanation for why we are here is beautiful:
“It is very difficult to think that the main and centrally constituent service to the one infinite Creator as that of being. And yet that is what you came to Earth to do. You came here to be yourself; to breathe the air; to participate in the illusion of the planet Earth; to go through each and every detail of receiving catalyst, responding to catalyst and moving through the periods of joy and suffering that this catalyst offers you.
And always your chief responsibility is to be yourself; to feel truly; to examine yourself as fully as you can and to know yourself to the very limit of your ability. You wish to know yourself not to judge yourself or to condemn yourself or to pat yourself on the back but simply to become aware of who you are”
~Carla Rueckert, “Living the Law of One”
Being and knowing thyself. It sounds simple, but as we all know, certainly not easy.
