Seeds of Insight 016 - He who knows why

Dear You,

These are words by Simon Sinek, leadership guru and designer of the well-known startup world concept of the Golden circle. Of course, the concept is as old as humanity. Rod Stryker, author of “The Four Desires”, points out that this search for meaning was already revealed in the Vedas some 3000-3500 years ago.

The first of these four desires is dharma, as I mentioned in previous posts, In other words, this is the longing to fulfil our unique purpose. Being connected to this sense of inner purpose carries us more lightly through the storms of life, even when outside circumstances appear to be hopeless.  Austrian psychologist Viktor Frankl came to believe man's deepest desire is to search for meaning, and that search alleviated suffering even in the most extreme conditions, such as the concentration camps during the Second World War.

It is all about the “why”. Yet so much of our daily energy is spent on the “how”. We tend to go in circles, without direction, possibly because “how” appears to be a much easier and less overwhelming question. The irony, of course, is that it leads to exhaustion and lack of fulfilment, until we are ready to take responsibility for our subtle strategies to avoid “why”.

Feeling tired of this? Join us on our September course Meaning:full (see details below). My dear friend Nadia and I will be gently but firmly  helping you ask your “why” through yoga, meditation and self-reflection. Even better, share the love and bring a friend to get a 50% discount.
